Simulations Week

Simulations Week: June 11-14, 2012

You are one of the last members of humankind, traveling from a destroyed earth to a new planet with hopes of reestablishing humanity. You are living under an oppressive dictatorship, striving to survive long enough to stage a coup. You have been shipwrecked and must work together with the other survivors to stay alive, and if possible get off the island.

You are a representative. You are an artist. You are a scientist. You are a musician. You are a revolutionary.

Anything is possible when you enlist in Simulation Week. For one week participants are dropped into a unique real-time simulation carefully structured by multiple mentors for maximum impact. They are given a potentially life if not humanity threatening problem, and four days in which they must work together with their other team mates to solve. Optional meals are provided, so as the situation escalates throughout the week participants can, and often do, work through meals.

As they learn to work with, off, and against each other, the youth cultivate and discover new talents and skills  such as lobbying, talking to and around people, diplomacy, parliamentary procedure and countless other skills. At the end of the week everyone participates in the formal banquet finale, where the success of the group is presented for all to see.

The AYLI Sim Forum will be used as a base to meet others who will be going, as well as a great way to begin your Simulations Week experience.

Previous participants have said great things about simulations week:

“Simulations week is the greatest teenage intellectual adrenaline rush since war was invented!”

“It’ the greatest thing I’ve done since being born!”

“It’s changed my life.”

Registration opens March 2012. Spots are limited, so mark your calendar and be sure to register early.
